A colourful replication of local history will be held in Wheatley on the Civic Holiday.All are invited to a re-enactment of Gen. Isaac Brock’s landing at Sand Island 200 years ago.
The Amherstburg Historic Sites Association and the Wheatley Fish Festival are hosting the event to commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.
Brock was reported to have landed in the vicinity of what is now Taylor Beach at the foot of Pier Rd., en route to his taking command of British forces at Amherstberg and his subsequent capture of Fort Detroit.
The festivities will portray Brock, in full uniform, arriving in a long boat and meeting aboriginals and local settlers.
