The digital archiving and media development solutions provider The Digital Ark announced its collaboration with the U.S. Naval War College for the design and development of interactive iPad kiosk exhibits.
The Digital Ark partnered with the Naval War College Museum and Library to make the library’s special collections available to museum visitors during the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The library’s Naval Historical Collection serves as the record-keeper and storyteller through its rare books, manuscripts, photographs and oral histories, according to a news release.
The firm’s mission was to design and build a comprehensive digital repository that enabled faculty, students and researchers to be inspired by and learn from their cultural heritage.
Through the iPad kiosks, visitors are given the ability to create user accounts, rate items, add comments, request materials, email favorite albums and share via social media. Museum staff can monitor analytics data in order to track popular searches, thereby prioritizing digitization projects, according to the release.
