Special ceremony to be held Sunday to honour veterans of the War of 1812.

(Penetanguishene) –
A special ceremony will be held this Sunday at St. James-on-the-Lines Anglican Church in Penetanguishene to honour veterans of the War of 1812.

The first two granite plaques to mark the graves of veterans of the War of 1812 will be unveiled in a ceremony at the church cemetery following the service.

David Brunelle is the Project Director Southern Georgian Bay War of  1812 Bicentennial Committee and he says the ceremony will honour local War of 1812 Veterans Captain James Keating and Admiral John Moberly.

He says this is the start of what he hopes will become a nation wide ceremony.

Brunelle says over the first phase of the project they hope to add up to 1000 War of 1812 veterans across the country and post the biographies that will tell the stories of these Canadian heroes.
