NIAGARA FALLS – A free community event called “Hear The Cannons Roar” is being organized by the Niagara Falls Bicentennial Task Force. It will take place on Thursday, July 25, the 199th anniversary of the Battle of Lundy’s Lane.
The event starts at 6 p.m. at Battlefield School Park, which is the actual site of the important battle which helped to define us as a nation.
The 2nd Lincoln Artillery will set up four cannons on the site and will fire them for approximately 30 minutes. The event is a reminder of the one-year countdown until the 200th anniversary of the critical battle.
A free commemorative souvenir will be given to the first 500 people who attend.
The 2nd Lincoln Artillery will be holding a marching and cannon drill on Friday, July 19, at 7 p.m. in the Farmer’s Market area behind the Niagara Falls History Museum.
