LEWISTON, N.Y. — Niagara University has chosen Veteran’s Day for the dedication of a plaque for its 1812 Bicentennial Peace Garden.
The private upstate New York university says Monday’s ceremony is meant to honor those who’ve sacrificed for freedom, while recognizing 200 years of peace between the United States and Canada.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
The Niagara University Peace Garden is one of several gardens that have been created on both sides of the border as part of a Peace Garden trail commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812.
The initiative was begun by the Binational Economic & Tourism Alliance.
