Dr. James McConnell, a teacher and an historian, will present a free program at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in Livonia on the effects of the War of 1812 on Michigan and Detroit, in particular.
McConnell spent most of his career teaching in the Dearborn Public Schools but also taught classes at several universities. He was coordinator for many historical celebrations in the state of Michigan such as the Declaration of Independence Bicentennial, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, and the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.
The program will be held in the Livonia Civic Center Library, 32777 Five Mile Road.
