The Kendal 200 committee will be presenting a War of 1812 encampment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Union Square on Whales Road in Massillon.
During the War of 1812 encampment, re-enactors will set up camp on the square and offer weapons demonstrations, drills and 19th century cooking demonstrations. They will also be available to answer questions about uniforms and camp life.
Representatives of the Massillon Museum, Massillon Public Library and Spring Hill Historic Home will also be available to discuss their organizations and the Kendal Bicentennial Celebration. In addition, Spring Hill Historic Home, the home of Kendal founders Thomas and Charity Rotch, will be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to Spring Hill Historic Home, located at 1401 Springhill Lane NE, Massillon, is being offered at a reduced rate for this event: $3 for adults and seniors, $2 for students, and children 5 and under are free.
