The Niagara Falls Sand Exhibit, located inside the old Niagara Falls Memorial Arena on Centre St., was originally scheduled to open Monday, but the public will have to wait a bit longer before they can venture inside. That’s because city officials still need to inspect the old arena that has been vacant for three years.
“The city is going to require certain documents and people to review it,” said Brian Dickson, director of fire prevention. “We’ve identified the things needed to be done and when they are ready we will be sending a building and fire inspector back.”
Stas Revura, spokesman for V2 Niagara Inc., said the requirements needed to bring the building up to code are minor.
“It’s the little things like exit signs, emergency lighting. Everything else is ready,” he said.
He expects the facility to be open “within a couple weeks.”
