from Peter Mykusz
October 13, 2012 marked the 200th anniversary of the historic Battle of Queenston Heights. History became alive as visitors were treated to historic interpreters, military demonstrations, tour of Brock’s Monument, music, period merchants and the re-enactment of the battle with a ceremony commemorating those who fought and fell during the War of 1812. Hundreds of re-enactors from both sides of the border performed in the battle. Cannon fire, the crack of rifle volleys, war cries and lots of smoke showed a realistic battle scene. The narrative of the Battle made the audience appreciate the sacrifices that were made and the significance of that battle in shaping Canada.
