YOUNGSTOWN – The U.S. Navy Band’s Great Lakes Wind Ensemble will play a free concert at 6 p.m. Friday at Old Fort Niagara.

The ensemble will be joined onstage by members of the Marine Forces Reserve Band, the Royal Canadian Navy Band and the U.S. Coast Guard Band for a performance marking the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the 200th anniversary of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” coming up in 2014.

The gates of the fort will open at 5 p.m. for this outdoor concert, to be held in front of the French Castle, the oldest building at the fort. Audience members should bring their own lawn chairs. The concession stand will be open. The concert is co-sponsored by the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council.
