Who Really Won the War of 1812?
Fort Erie– Depending on which side of the border you are from, you probably already have an opinion about this long and highly debated question, but on September 15th the Fort Erie 1812 Bicentennial Committee will demand an answer at the Gala Dinner & Great Debate- Who won the War of 1812? The event will feature debaters Roy MacGregor and David Frum, as well as comedian Tony Quinn.
This formal evening of fine dining, musical entertainment, comedy and spirited debate will begin with a three course prime rib dinner that is sure to please any appetite. The incredibly entertaining comedian, musician and impersonator, Tony Quinn, will follow dinner. Quinn has been featured at events such as the Halifax Comedy Festival, Royal Canadian Air Farce, the National Radio Awards and many more spectacular events.
Once the crowd is in tears from laughter, debaters Roy MacGregor and David Frum will take the stage with moderator Mark Romoff to settle the age old question- who won the War of 1812?
The debate is sure to be a hit. MacGregor is an award winning political and sports journalist, renowned author, Globe and mail columnist and Officer in the Order of Canada. As he debates for Canada, his counterpart Frum will try and hold on to the pride of his American allies. Frum is a Canadian born journalist, author, political commentator, former special assistant to President Bush, and foreign policy advisor to Rudy Giuliani.
The Gala Dinner and Great Debate will be held at 6pm at the Fort Erie Leisureplex Banquet Hall.
Tickets for this truly original event can be purchased through the Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce at 905-871-3803. Tickets are only $75 per person, but must be purchased in advance as space is limited and tickets are in high demand. Table sponsorship opportunities are also available, or you can purchase 5 of more tickets for only $70 each.
