Canadians and Americans are reliving the War of 1812 in grand style.
The latest bicentennial event, according to the Niagara Falls Review, was this past weekend’s battle reenactment at Old Fort Erie.
More than 700 participants from across North America took part in the 26th annual Siege Weekend at the fort.
This year’s event was billed as Canada’s largest battle reenactment weekend.
“We have to look at ourselves, and where we’ve been,” says Daryl Leam, events coordinator at the fort. “People have interesting stories, but they’re only interesting if they’re told. If we don’t share the stories of our past, we don’t understand our past.”
