Experience War of 1812 living history events at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site on Saturday August 4th and Sunday August 5.th See re-enactors camped in the Site’s Memorial Tree Grove from Saturday 9am through Sunday 3pm.
On Saturday, troops muster for inspection at 10am and demonstrate military drills until noon. At 1:00pm a ceremonial ground breaking takes place for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Monument to the Crown Forces killed at the Second Battle of Sackets Harbor 29 May 1813.
Highlight of the weekend is the Bytown Brigantine Fair Jeanne ship and land artillery barrage on Saturday at 2:30pm. An impressive land tactical takes place Sunday at 12 noon.
The 110 foot Canadian Brigantine Fair Jeanne travels the world. This Tall Ships training program has graduated over 2,000 young sailors.
During the weekend event meet War of 1812 theme book authors or try you skills at 19th c. children’s games and toys. The Sackets Battlefield’s 9th Annual War of 1812 Weekend is a “must see” for visitors. Discover Sackets Harbor’s War of 1812 story!
