Calling all artists – The ’1812 Bicentennial Expressions Community Event’ wants your help

NIAGARA -ON-THE-LAKE – Residents will soon have the opportunity to express their interpretations of the War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemoration through their own artistic talents.The “1812 Bicentennial Expressions Community Event” is a joint venture with the Town and the 1812 Bicentennial Committee, under Niagara Region’s 2012 Cultural Capital of Canada’s Niagara Nights of Art program.

This is a free, family-friendly event meant to celebrate the artists in our community and showcase their talents.

All residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake, young and old, are invited to submit their artistic interpretation of what the War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemoration means to them.

Submissions are accepted in one of four categories- New Media & Film, Visual Art, Performance Art, and Literary Art.

A Selection Committee will determine artists from each category who will showcase their art at the event on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Navy Hall.

Each selected artist will receive a monetary gift and may have applicable artist fees paid for.
