War of 1812 being remembered

The Innisfil Public Library has planned a special event to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. David Brunelle of the Southern Georgian Bay War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee will be offering a presentation on this historic occasion that shaped the country and region. People of all ages are encouraged to attend this celebration.

Registration is required for this free, family event. The presentation takes place at the Stroud branch on July 4, Cookstown July 11, and Lakeshore July 24. All presentations begin at 7 p.m.

Also, the Stroud and Cookstown branches will host Marina

Nemat on Saturday July 28, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively. Acclaimed author of two memoirs, Nemat’s first book, Prisoner of Tehran, was recently defended by Arlene Dickinson on CBC’s Canada Reads.
