Tall Ships glided into Boston yesterday as OpSail 2012, Navy Week and the 31st annual Boston Harborfest come together to mark the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

The U.S. Navy has invited warships from countries around the world, including Britain, Denmark, Germany and Canada, to help honor the USS Constitution for its role in the War of 1812, said Boston Harborfest president Susan Park. The 13 military ships and five Tall Ships are open for tours to the public.

“I think they’re beautiful,” said Sue Hindersman of Norton, who was visiting the ships docked in the Seaport District.

Other Seaport visitors enjoyed the sights as they were passing by.

“We came down for dinner, but we happened to see the ships,” said Rob Evans of Milford. “It’s kind of cool to see them.”

Boston Harborfest runs through July 4.
